"WOLF'S CLOTHING."

A NOVEL COMEDY. GRAND THEATRE. The management of tho Grand Theatre have had socio of tho best films obtainable on their programmes lately, but last night's feature film, "Wolf's Clothing," is one of especial merit. It is a novel comedy with' a dash of melodrama thrown in. The superb acting of Monto Bluo is its star attraction. He has not been seen in a better and moro versatile role—one that suits him admirably. The story from tho pen of Arthur Roche, is weird and has been filmed with a clevorness that is art in itself. The characters in the play are many, and include millionairios, a society girl, bandits, and crooks —a combination that make up a thrilling and romantic plot. Monte Blue is seen working as a subway conductor. He has been there three years, and has not had a night off. He yearns for one, and is granted it on A'ew Year's Eve. He wishes to break out from his environment and emulate the society gentlemen with their evening "dross and tophats. As he is leaving the station he is knocked down by a passing motorist. The latter takes him out to the roadside, twelve miles away, and changes clothes with him. He puts tho evening clothes on and a passing car takes the injured man to Morgana Hotel. In his pocket he finds the card "Johnson Craige." The man has escaped from a mental hospital, there being a search party out for him. As Johnson Craige, Blue goes to an hotel for dinner, to celebrate tho New Year—he is alone —and sees a pretty society girl—alone. They subsequently dine together. A doped bottlo of champagne is poured out, and then by a ruse some crooks engago the ambulance to kidnap tho pair. Hero they are photographed in compromising attitudes. The result is that Blue is forced to find 50,000 dollars to clear their names. Johnson Craige is still at largo, and while Monte is wonderiug how to get the money, a message from his room at the hotel falls at his feet. Ho rushes upstairs and finds a girl murdered, Craige having done it. The latter escapes, and in a wild search Blue finds him. He promises him 50,0000 dollars if Blue lets him go. In a wild rush Blue drives hiin to tho docks in a milk-cart, all the while Craige smashing milk bottles on the way. At the dock he is met by the crooks and taken aboard. .Tho 50,000 dollars is handed over and proves to be but newspaper clippings. Confusion reignß, but Blue gets the captain of the ship to marry him to the girl. Back in the train again Craige takes charge of tho engine and becomes demented, driving at the rate of 100 miles an hour. Bluo makes a wonderful save by climbiDg up the train and stops it as it crashes into a carriage. The final is ona big surprise—Jlonte Blue has dreamed this wonderful story. In the dual character, Blue has excelled himself, and acts with a cleverness which is all his own. His comedy is exceptionally good. Patsy Ruth Miller, as tho heroine, is an able support. . The supporting films are a cartoon (Christio comedy), Australian Gazotte, and "Tho Cost of Carelessness," showing the destruction of big forests by fire. The Grand Orchestra played a specially selected programme.
