A mix-up then took place, and Molineus was brutally assaulted, having two or three ribs and his nose broken. It is believed that the meu concerned arc now under arrest. Timber Trade. The hopeful spirit' in regard to the revival of the sawmilling trade in the New Year appears to -be growing general. -This is due apparently to the fact that orders for timber for export are being received from different sources suggesting a general revival. It is understood most of the red pine mills are making arrangements to start up with a full team of workmen after the holidays. . South Westland Roau. Motor traffic on the South Westland road yesterday was delayed through the flooding of McCullough Creek. This crossing has been very troublesome to motor traffic of late, and if bridged would give a clear run to Okarito without cars having to negotiate stream crossings.
