TEMUKA 1.0.0. F. At a meeting of the Waitca Eebokab. Lodge, N.G. Sister Wallace, presided, A motion of sympathy was passed to Bro. L. Hobbs in the death of his mother. The Social Committee's report was adopted. An appeal was received and granted to a brother in distress. Combined Picnic The Waitea and Alexandrovna Lodges held a combined picnic at Kakahu Bush. Great credit is due to the combined committees for the way iu which the picnic was run. Thanks are due to the following members, Sisters Young, Wallace, Davis, Ludemann, E. Scotl, and M. Scott, Bros. Davis, •Seeler, Woodham, Norton, King, J. Freddy, and B. Smith. Lunch was partaken of soon after arrival, the billies being boiled in record time. After a ramble through the bush, the races were run iu a paddock kindly lent by Mr and .Mrs Hall. The races proved very interesting, the results being as follows:—Little tots tinder 5 years: lan Henderson I, Phiskio 2, Basil King I!; each child was given a toy. Aker 2, Miss H. Longson 3. Young men's race: Mr B. Smith 1, Mr T.Wallace 2, Mr W. Seelor 3. Married ladies' race: Mrs L. Phiskie 1, Mrs C. Norton 2, Mrs C. Palmer 3. Three-legged race (girls): Alberta Williams and Molly Davis 1, Joyce Swap and Myra Longson 2, Lily McClintock and Neta Larconibe 3. Lost boot race (boys): Bert Davis 1, Des. Horgan 2, Lennie Preddy 3. Ladies' heavy-weight race: Mrs J. Preddy 1, Mrs J. -Davis 2, Mrs G. Paterson 3. Married men's race: Mr L. Phiskie 1, Mr W. Searle 2, Mr E. Henderson 3. Balclutha Boys' Band. Word has been received by the Mayor of Temuka (Mr T. E. Gunnion), that the Balclutha Boys' Band, which is now -touring tho North Island, will visit Temuka on January 24th, giving a contort in-the evening, and going south on the following day. The Band comprises 27 members, and is under the management of Mr John Gold. It is a talented combination, and wherever it has appeared it has aroused the enthusiasm of the audiences, so the public of Temuka can look forward to enjoying a musical treat on tho occasion of its visit. < Personal. Miss Eileen Twomcy (Christeharch) is spending the vacation with her mother, Mrs J. M. Twomey, Temuka. Mr and Mrs C. E. Powley, of Bluff, arc on a visit to Temuka, and are the guests of Mrs E. Eiehards, Birkett street. ■ Mr and Mrs T. G. Storic and son, of Eoslyn, are spending their annual holiday at Burnham. Among the visitors to Temuka during the holidays were: Mr and Mrs Jas. Crombic and son (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs H. Wells (Christchurch), Mr S. Scott and family (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs P. Birt and family (Timaru), Mr H. Bradwcll (Lawrence), and Mr and Mrs Pink and daughter.
