MOTOR LICENSE FEES.
TO THE BDITOB OT THE PRESS. Sir-I notice by this morning's paper that the Hon. Mr Williams, Minister for Public Works, is by Governor's message introducing a proposal which will bring all motor-cars, whether private or otherwise, exceeding two tons in weight with their passengers or load under the Heavy Tratfac Regulations, and thus compel them to •pay additional taxation. It behoves everv private motorist and every farmer who uses the motor m connexion with the transport of his farm requirements or produce to resist this further taxation. It is said that our racing friends keep up horse racing to improvo the breed of horses; it certainly looks as if the present Government were doing its best to improve the breed of draught horses by keeping motor tiraffic off the roads.—Yours, CtC '' F. W. JOHNSTON. Christ church, November 26th, 1927.
