Hotels will miss their usual holiday on Christmas Day this year, for the reason that Christmas falls on a Sunday. Although the holiday will be observed generally on Monday, December 26th, the law, as defined in the Public Holidays Amendment Act, of 1921, makes it clear that hotel licensees are permitted to open their bars on that day, and that licenses may lawfully be granted for the sale of liquor at race meetings which will be held in different parts of the country on December 26th.
