The Paris correspondent of tlift "Evening News" reports that » chauffeur named Royart stole a motorcar at Casablanca and drove tot Tetuan. picking up en route two accomplices. The police attempted to intercept them, and a fierce battle foI» lowed, in which three of the police wero shot dead and four wounded. The desperadoes then systematically visited jewellers' shops in Tetuan, stole gems worth £20,000 and escaped. Tho police, armed with machino guns, pursued the robbers, and another tight took place on tho FrenchMoroccan border lasting for two hours, in which all thro* bandits wero seriously wounded. The missing gems were discovered in tho car.
