LES MURRAY RETIRES. —rj (press association tzlzgbam.) DUNEDIN, November 9. Les Murray, who for six years hold the title of light-weight champion of New Zealand, has announced his retirement from the ring. He forfeited his title to Charlie Purdy by his absence from the Dominion over the prescribed time, and during his sojourn in the United States aspired to the world's title without success, although he put up several good fights, and won the esteem of the American public. The Chicago "Referee" regards him as the ninth best lightweight in the world to-dav.
