ENGLISH PARK STADIUM.

CARNIVAL PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT. A well-varied programme of cycling and running will be held at English Park Stadium to-night, commencing at eight o'clock. The chief events are the one mile scratch race and the two miles cup wheel race, and a half mile open handicap. The competitors in these events include the majority of the best sprinters in the Dominion, including several with overseas experience, and the finishes promise to be exciting. With riders of the calibre of Willie Mackie, Jack Henderson, Clarrie Bright, Jack Bearman, N. H. Goodman, and J. R. I'Anson in the field, the public is assured of an interesting evening. Willie Mackie has been in America for the past few months, and as this is his first Christchurch appearance since his return, his presence is creating interest in cycling circles. Mackie will have to reckon with Jack Henderson, who is a brilliant track performer. Henderson recently rode with great success in Australia. In the running events Bon McLennan, the New Zealand sprint champion, will run, and other prominent back-markers are M. A. Macdonald and R. S. Thomson. George Getson, the distance runner, will bo the scratch man in the 880 yds handicap. Special trams will leave the Square at frequent intervals for the Stadium.
