SHIPPING NOTES. The past few days have been very slack in port, but several steamers, iucluding one overseas liner, are due to day. The Maori arrived at Lyttelton at 7.4n a.m. vesterday from Wellington. She was delayed bv the tail-end of the south-easterly gale. The Calm is due "to-day from Wellington, and is to sail this afternoon with cargo for Bluff, Dunedin, and Timaru. The John is expected this morning troni Wellington, and is to take in cargo to-day for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth, anu Waikato. The Storm is to arrive from Timaru this morning to load for Wellington and Wanganui. The Kaiapoi is to arrive this morning from Wellington to discharge hardwood from Bunbury. She is to sail to-morrow for a West Coast port. The Waipori is expected to-day -rom Oamaru to discharge a part cargo of coal from Westport. The Kamo, due this morning from Duneuin and Timaru, loads for Napier and Gisborne and sails via Wellington. Captain ,T. D. Watson lias replaced Captain T. B. Sewell in command of the Karetu. Captain Watson left Lyttelton last evening for Wellington for orders. The Turakina sailed from Wellington at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon for Lyttelton.. She will commence discharging Liverpool cargo here this morning. The Waipiata is expected on Saturday from the south to load for Auckland. She is to sail on Monday, via Wellington. The Wingatui is due, on Tuesday _ from Auckland and Wellington, nnd is to sail the same day for Dunedin and Timaru. The Tees is due on Sunday from Wellington, and is to sail on Monday for the Chatham "Islands.

The Kennedy has been delayed, and is now to arrive oil Sunday from Fgxton. She is to be dispatched on Monday 'with cargo for Wellington and Foxton. Tho Cygnet-, due to-night -ro|n Kaikouta and Wellington, is to sail on the return trip to-morrow night. The Opihi is to load on Tuesday next for Wellington, Nelson, New Plymouth, an<l Westport.

Tho Kaituna is due on Tuesday from Portland and Wellington. Tho Kataa is to arrive on Tuesday from Auckland, Portland, and Wellington. The Waihemo is duo to-morrow from Dunedin to discharge cargo from San Francisco. ■ The C. and D. liner Port Campbell is to leavo Liverpool on January 7tli next for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin in place of the Part Hobart. Tho West Sequana is to leavo Los Angeles on January 3rd for New Zealand ports. The Matakana is expected at Auckland from London on November 23rd. The West Nivajia is due at, Lyttelton at tho end of this week from Auckland to discharge cargo from San Francisco. The Port Caroline is to sail from London 011 November 30th for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bills'. When the motor-vessel Kotiti was placed on the slip on Tuesday it was found that she had not broken her tail-shaft, as supposed, but that the propeller was loose on tho shaft, due to a locking-nut stripping.
