A fierce battle took place between riyal tribe 3 of aboriginals on the Goondadoo Plain in the far north-west, when a quarrel developed between two members of rival factions over the posesssion of a lubra. A trial of strength and skill took place between the two men to decide who should possess her. It failed to have a decisive result, and then the two tribes commenced to fight. Flights of spears hurtled through the air and one man was killed and many seriously wounded before the melee ended. The police later arrived on the scene, hut were unable to gain arty information as the members of the warring tribes had taken to the bush.
