KING'S PRIZE. (AUSTRALIAN AND H.Z. CABL. ASSOCIATION} SYDNEY, October 1-3. The struggle for the King's Prize resolved itself at an early stage into a tight for supremacy between those with the loading scores. The weather throughout was ideal, and the leaders, with the big aggregates thev were carrying from the first and second stages, experienced no difficulty in maintaining their positions. Between seven and eight hundred competitors had started shooting m the competition, but these were narrowed down to the three placed men and Treadwell, of Victoria. Gunn, with a total' of 295, had a lead of four points over Ellis, who was one ahead of Treadwell and Masefiekl (N.Z.). Gunn was first to tire at the final range (900' yards, 10 shots), aud scored 44. Masefiekl and Treadwell could exceed Gunn's total by gaining a possible nnd Ellis ueeded 48 to tie or 49 to win. Treadwell put himself out, scoring only 44, while Masefield got on 47. Ellis then took the mound, but was .unfortunate, for the sun, which had been obscured most of the day, suddenly burst out from behind the clouds and suffused the target with a dazzling light. He dropped two points on the first shot and another on the fourth, and so narrowly forfeited his chance of winning.

B.S.A. CUP. {AUSTRALIAN ASH y.Z. CABL* ASSOCIATIOX.) (Received October 16th, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, October 15. Thirty-one Empire" teams participated in the B.S.A. Cup miniature rifle competition. Surrey won with an aggregate of 3900. The Dominions' positions were as' follows: —Queensland ; twelfth; New South Wales, fourteenth; Wellington, seventeenth; Victoria, twenty-third; Tasmania, twenty-fourth; Nelson, twentyseventh; South Australia, twenty-ninth.
