PARLIAMENT.
THIS WEEK'S BUSINESS IN THE HOUSE. [THE PRESS Special Serviced WELLINGTON, October 16. With the passing of the Customs Amendment Bill in the early hours of Saturday morning,, the House of Re* presentatives has accomplished one of its biggest tasks this session, and the way is now clear for progress to be made with other items On the Order Paper and for dealing with, the legislation which Mr Coates intimated recently was to be introduced and passed before the end of the sessions Items of interest expected during the coming week are the Public Works Statement, and the amendments to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. There Was a prospect of these measures coming forward last week, but chiefly owing to the protracted nature of the debate on the tariff had to be postponed. The Order Paper for to-morrow night's sitting has not yet been definitely arranged, but it is anticipated that members will be called on to discuss reports from a number of Select Committees, and that when these are disposed of, Bills which have been on the Order Paper for some time will be further debated. Among these are the Inspection of Machinery Amendment, which is down for its third reading, and the Guardianship of Infants Amendment and the Introduction of Plants Bill, which are due for their second reading.
