PERSONAL. Miss W. Radford, of Temuka, returned home from' Christchurch yesterday. Miss B. Attfield, Clyde,"is spending a holiday, in Temuka, and is the:,guest .of Mrs Radford, Railway terrace. • Mr C. BurtenshaV, a prominent member of the Methodist Church in Tcmuka, is at present visiting Christ-; church. ■ Mrs W. Mcßridq has gone to spend a holiday ,at Waikouaiti and Dunedin. Miss Lorna Double left Temuka on Saturday to spend a holiday in Wellington. Oddfellows' Dance. An enjoyable dance was given by the members of the Alexandrovna Lodge, in the Drill Hall on Thursday evening. There, was a good attendance, visitors coming from every part of the surrounding districts. The room' was tastefully decorated with coloured streamers, and flowering acacia covered walls of the hall. Extras we're contributed by Messrs C. V. Kelland and G. Simcs. Supper was supplied by the members of the Waitea Rebekah (Ladies) Lodge. Mr W. Seeler attended to the duties of Master of Ceremonies. Milford Lagoon Association. . Tho Committee appointed in connexion with the Milford Lagoon Association bazaar and tug-of-war met on Thursday, there being present Messrs L. J. Wareing (president), T. Greelish, L. Hobbs, W. Lawlor, F. Williams, J. H. Craig, A. R. Beck, W. Tozcr, W. Ross, W. Phillips, J. Dcnnison, J. Fisher, D. Grant, and the joint secretaries (S. Douglas and F. Martin). It was reported that there would be an entry of at least 12 teams for the men's competition, and eight for the ladies.' Methodist Circuit Meeting. The circuit quarterly meeting of the Temuka Methodist Church was held on Thursday evening, at the residence of Mr and Mrs G. Cone, Waitohi. Several car-loads journeyed from Temuka, .and there was a good attendance of members from various parts of the circuit. Messages of condolence were passed with the families of the late Mrs Opie and Mr E. Brown. The matter of an invitation to a minister for next year was considered, and it was agreed to invite the Rev. A. Blackmorc, of Kaponga. Messrs E. B. Cooper and R. Maxwell were appointed as representatives to the annual synod, with Mrs Elder and Mr Cone as substitutes. Tug of War Club. A meeting of the executive, of the newly-formed Tug-of-War Club was held "on Friday evening. There was a good attendance, presided over by Mr W. Tozer. Messrs Boyle, Greelish, and Ross were appointed a selection committee. It was decided that individual teams keep all moneys won, but if a challenge cup be* won, it will become the property of the club. Lady member's are to- be admitted at the same subscription rate as men. Mr B. Hope was appointed captain of No. 1 team, and Mr B. Boyle captain of No. 2 team.
