The League thought that the Council should take the preliminary steps for the erection of the Town Hall, and then when the time was opportune the Council would be able to go straight on with the proposal. The League suggested that the (Jouncil should definitely select a site, and have the plan of the Hall prepared and placed before tho public, so that the ratepayers would not bo able to object to the design after the ball is built. Mr Hawke endorsed Mr Watson's remarks, and stated that the public wanted tc> know what was being done in the matter. It was decided to carry out the 0.8. and I. League's request. A letter was received from the Oxford branch of the Farmers' Union asking the Council to endeavour to secure a revaluation of the lands of the Oxford County on account of the present valuation being too Mr If. Campbell, senr., waited s on the Council, and strongly objected to the Council asking for a revaluation of the County unless the Council was prepared to fight the matter in the Court if the County's valuation was increased. ' It was decided to inform the Farmers' Union that the Council was of the opinion that nothing would be gained by having the County revalued.
