LYTTELTON NEWS.
Harbour Light Theatre. I There was a full house at the Harbour Light Theatre on Saturday night, when an attractive double feature programme, consistins of "A Hero on Horseback." starring Hoot Gibson, and ''Love's Greatest Mistake,' a drama, with an all-star cast, was screened, Ihc supporting programme included a gazette ami a Christie comedv. The complete programme will be repeated tonight. To-morow another double feature programme will be screened. The chief attraction is ' The Land Eevond the Law," featuring Ken Maynard and the other feature is "Galloping A engeance, starring Bob Custor. A comedy and gazette will be included in the The reserve plan for "The Blue Lagoon,' an English production from the famous Island romance bv 11. de Vers Starpoole. and which will be shown on Thursday and Friday, opens at King and Cousins to-day. Sunday Trains to Port. The Railway Department will commence running the summer Sunday time-table to Lvtteltou as usual on tho tirst Sunday in November, which will this year be November b'th. An extra train will leave Christehurch on Sunday mornings at 10.1J5, leaving Lyttelton at 11.10. In the evening an extra train will leave Christehurch at 6".15, and leave Lyttelton at 7 o'clock. This time-table will commence on the day on which Daylight Saving comes into force. It has been pointed out that the effect of running the extra evening train from Lyttelton at the same time as formerly, 7 o'clock, will be that weekenders and excursionists, instead of saving an hour of daylight, will actually be deprived of an hour. Formerly the 7 o'clock train was the most popular with the very large crowds which visit Corsair Bay and Diamond Harbour and other resorts. Now the train will leave port at the equivalent of six o'clock, with a couple of hours of good daylight to go. Tho alternative will be to wait until 9.30, which is too lato for most people. The suggestion is mado that the evening train should run at 8 o'clock, summer-time, which would give excursionists an hour longer at the beaches. It is recognised that the Department must adhere rigidly to tho change to bo brought about by the introduction of summer-time so far as its main timetable is concerned, but the extra train mentioned is put on in tho summer months to cater almost exclusively for excursionists, and it is submitted by persons interested that it. should therefore run at the time most convenient for those whom it is to serve. It is unlikely that other seaside places adjacent to Christehurch will suffer in the way in which Lyttelton is threatened, as the tramway service to those places is more elastic, the extra trams being put on whenevrr re<|uired. Representations will probably be made to tho Railway Department to this effect. : Golf. In a play-off at Diamond Harbour on Saturday for the Godley House trophy, C. Maz;ey and Mrs J. Hudson defeated D. Gower and Miss \V. White-Parsons. A medal match played at' Charteris Bay yesterday was won by F. Knights. . Miss E. Bundy was the winner of a ladies' medal match played at Charteris Bay yesterday, Miss C. Williams being tho run-ner-up.
