LOCAL FINANCE CO3DUTTEE. At a meeting of the local Finance Committee of the'Kew Zealand Branch of the British Bed Cross Society and Order of St. John there were present: Mr J. A. Fleshcr (chairman), Lady Wigram, Mrs H. H. Smith, Miss Guthrie, Messrs W. E. D. Bishop and H. L. Bowker. . Statements were received showing the amounts expended on comforts in connexion with the various hospitals and Bad Cross Clubs. The financial statement showed that during September 201 ex-service patients had received attention, and that the ex* penditore oa clothing, tobacco, hospital requisites, extra food, motor hire, amusements, and including grants to the various matrons for miscellaneous purchases had totalled £lO5 16s 9d. In addition to the foregoing, expenditure on Red Cross Club work had totalled £7O 3s od. An interesting report from Sister Lewis on the peace-time work carried out in the Wellington district during September was read by the chairman, and it was resolved to write to the Wellington Centre expressing appreciation of the work done. A report was received from Sister Christian on her work in the Methven district. It was resolved to send letters of thanks to the president of the school committee, Alford Forest, to the chairman of the Hall Committee, Staveley and Lyndhurst, and to the chairman of the School Committee, Highbank, for the valuable help given by them in connexion with Sister Christian's work. ' The Red Cross Depot reported that the billiards table at Bannerdale Home needed Attention, and it was resolved that it be attended to.
