SILVERWARE STOLEN.
❖---- — AUCKLAND MAN REMANDED. [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, September 23. The large house of Mr James Marsden Caughey, in Allandale road, Mount Albert, was broken into at midnight on Tuesday and .five silver cups and a silver pedestal of a total value of ,£3O were stolen. The house has been unoccupied for some time as Mr Caughey has been absent on tour abroad. He returns to Auckland on Monday nest. The police were not long in effecting an arrest, for William Caple (47), alias Cappell, was visited at his house in Mount Eden at 7 o'clock morning by Detectives Moon and Power and taken into custody on a charge of stealing Mr Caughey's silverware. It is understood that the silverware, which was i-ecovered by the detectives, was cut into small pieces.
Caple appeared at the Police Coijrt this morning; when Mr F.- K. Hunt remanded him until September 29th,
