THE WEATHER. Meteorological observations taken at the Magnetic Observatory, Christchurch, at 0.50 a.m. and 5 u.m. on September 23rd:— O.SO a.m. 5 p.in

Forecast. Present indications are -i'or north-westerly winds, strong to u gale and unsettled, squally weather.. Rain may be expected generally and heavy rain and flooded rivers ill tha western district of tile South Island. A westerly depression is now enveloping the Dominion, the trough of which is likely to pass about Sunday with southerly winds.
