BOXING.
HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The annual boxing' championships o£ the Christchurch Boys' High School were held last night before a fair attendance of the Public. Although a good evening's entertainment was provided, the standard of boxing was not quite up to that of previous years. Lack of training appeared to be the reason, for which the recent term holidays were probably to blame.. Despite this deficiency, however, there were some eooil and exciting exhibitions. The results were:
UNDER Ost 101b. Armstrong beat Gill. UNDER 7st 101b. TTilliam6 beat Kirk; Lee beat Martin. Final. ■ • Williams beat Lee. This was a close light. . Williams had the longor reach. UNDER Bst 101b. .. Rickard beat Anderson; • Stevens beat Bretherton; Rickard beat Bovce! Final. Rickard beat Stevens. The winner -was fitter, and had a belter knowledge of the game, UNDER Ost 101b. Kilpatrick beat Powley. One of the best bouts of tlie evening both boys showing good form. UNDER lOst 101b. Erwin beat Wood. Final. Gordon beat Erwin. There was very little to choose between the two. OVER lOst 101b. Foley beat Lunn. Final, Foley beat McGregor. McGregor was game, but the older and more experienced boy won. He had a considerable advantage in reach. The officials were:—Referee, Mr T. Robson; judges, Messrs W. G. Atack and F. Petre; announcer, Mr J. R. Montgomery; medical examiner, Dr. Simpson. During the evening the Headmaster, Mr G. Lancaster, thanked the officials and the public for their attendance, and called for cheers from the boys.
