VISITING WARSHIPS.
ENTERTAINMENT OF MEN. ROUND OF FESTIVITIES. At a meeting of the Citizens' Exception Committee held yesterday afternoon the following conditional programme was drawn up for the entertainment of the officers and men of H.M.S. Diomede and H.M.S. Dunedin during the ships' visit to Lyttelton next month: — Tuesday, October 11th: —10 a.m., Chairman Lyttelton Harbour Board, Mayors of Lyttelton and Christchurch to visit shipsj 12 noon, civic reception; 2.30 p.m., officers drive round Christchurch (visit Wigram Aerodrome); 8 p.m., officers attend Navy League ball; 8 p.m., petty officers and men, dance, Jellicoe Hall (Harbour Lights Girls' Club in charge). Wednesday:—2.3o p.m., football match, Canterbury v. Navy, North Park; 8 p.m., petty officers and men, dance (Navy League in charge); 8 p.m., smoke concert for officers. Thursday:—9 a.m., hare ' drive for officers (organised by Canterbury Officers' Club); 2.30 p.m., aquatic sports, Lyttelton; 8 p.m., footballers guests of Canterbury Football Association annual dance, Art Gallery; 8 p.m., "smoko" for petty officers and men, Jellicoe Hall (guests of Returned Soldiers' Association ). Friday:—lo a.m., excursion to Sumner; 3 p.m., football match, Dunedin v. Diomede, North Park; . 8 p.m., petty officers and men, dance, Jellicoe Hail (Citizens' Committee in charge). Saturday:— 2.30 p.m., excursion to New Brighton; 3 p.m., football match, North Park; 8 p.m., dance, Jellicoe Hall, petty'officers'and men (Citizens' Committee in charge). Sunday Excursion to Otira for officers, petty officers, and men; 8.15 p.m.,. sing-song, Y.M.C.A. Monday, ships depart. The committee has decided to appeal to citizens to invite the men to their homes. j
