There are persistent rumours that President Hindenburg, having reached the age of eighty, will retire from the Presidency, but Party influences inay change liis. intention. The Nationalists are keen for his retention, fearing that liis successor might not be so sympathetic towards Nationalism, while the industrialists are afraid that the electorate, in its present mood, might return an ultras Liberal.
