SPRING FLOWER SHOW.
. * AT SYDENHAM METHODIST . CHURCH. ■ The annual spring flower. show in aid of the Sydenham Methodist Church was held in the schoolroom, Brougham street, on Tuesday. The show was opened at 2.30 p.m. by Mr J. A. Flesher, vice-president of the Methodist Conference, who congratulated the organisers on the fine display and hoped the effort would be a great success. Mr and Mrs Flcsher were presented with a buttonhole and a bouquet, respectively, by Betty and Allen Odell. An exceptionally fine display of blooms was shown by the Gelatine Company and Messrs Smith and Pegley. t The judges were Mr .Tones (blooms), Mrs Robb (cakes), and Mrs Robinson (decorative sections). There wero stalls for cakes, sweets, plain and fancy work,'.and competition cakes,' the following being the ■'Stallholders:—Cakes, Mesdamcs Maddren and Robertson; sweets, Bible Class' girls; plain a lid fancy, Mrs McClelland and helpers; competition cakes, Mrs Stephens; flowers, Mesdamcs Turner and Withell; afternoon tearooms, Miss Bell and helpers; supper-rooms, Young Men's Bible Classes. There were also various amusements and competitions, tho winners of. the; nail-driving being Miss Billcus and Mr Stan. Collection of out-side-grown cut flowers: Mrs Turner 1, Miss AViso and Mrs Pollard (equal) 2. Best decorated table: Mrs McClelland 1., Miss Bell 2, Miss Billens he. Decorated basket: Miss Corey 1, Miss Billens 2. Children's Section —Best vase of flowers: liorua Stephens 1. Bowl of flowers: Owen Stephens 1. Lady's spray and mail's buttonhole: Ronald Turner 1, Jean Maddren 2, Mrs Robinson's special prizes: Lorna Stephens, Betty Odell, Ronald Turner, and Gwen Stephens. Vegetables—Carrots: W. R.
