FIRE.
BLAZE AT WELLINGTON. (FRESS ASSOCIATION TELIQBAIt.) WELLINGTON, September 20. A fire broke out in Tory street last night in a two-storey building owned by Thompson, Lewis, and Co., and occupied by Groves and Byan, motor engineers; Digby E. Perrett and Co., timber merchants and box manufacturers; and the Boyal Ancient Order of Buffaloes, who occupied , the top floor. All the lodge fittings, including a piano and some valuable carved oak, also a quan* [ tity of regalia recently imported from England, were lost. The total value is estimated at £450. There is a policy of £3OO in Guardian office. All the* stock and machinery in Perrett 'a was destroyed. Insurance of £3OO was oh the stock and fittings in the Eagle and Star office, and £IOO on the plant and machinery in the box factory. In the garage, two motor-cars, and two ton trucks were destroyed. Most of the machinery and fittings were ruined. There was a policy of £SOO in the British Traders' office on stock and fittings. Six cars were removed by tlu< son of the licensee of the Dominion Hotel next door and another man. The need for protection against lire loss is obvious.
