♦ IMPOSTER IN COURT. A FORCED SUBSCRIPTION. Stating that ho was unemployed, J\lallick Joseph Dohney obtained goods from the Citizens' Relief Depot, but it was subsequently discovered that Dohney had over £3OO. in the Post Office Savings .Bant. Yesterday he was charged at the Magistrate's Court that he was deemed to be a. rogue and a vagabond, in that he imposed upon the Citizens' Relief Depot. • Dohney pleaded guilty, and was represented by Mr W. F. Tracy Mr ED. Mosley, S.M., was on the Bench. Chief-Detectivo Lewis stated that Dohney had gone to the Relief Depot, filling in the usual application form. Having stated that ho had no property or money he received food and clothing. It' was later discovered that J l ® had' £354 5s in the Post Office Savings Bank. He would, not have received assistance had this been known. Mr Tracy stated that Dohney had thought that as he was out of employment he was entitled to apply for relief. Counsel had been instructed that . Dohney had worked several days for the food and clotliing. Presumably tlie case had been brought as a warning. The Magistrate stated th'at he was going to take a rather novel view of the case Robbery of that kind was one of the meanest possible things. "Has he £10?" he asked. The case was stood down while accused left the Court with Detective Mayne to obtain the sum that had been mentioned. When the case was called later, Dohney was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within six months, a condition being that ho give £lO to the Relief Depot.
