GRAND THEATRE.
So great a box office draw was the main feature at the Grand Theatre last week that arrangements were made to have the picture "Camille," retained in Christchurch for another ' week "in'order to ' afford those who were unable to attend last week an opportunity of seeing this truly remarkable production. "Gamillo" is one of those pictures which instantly captivate the public favour, and crowded houses during the presentations give ample evidence that the public is not alow to recognise, a genuinely fine picture. The picture is a modernised version of the famous story by Alexander Dumas, "The Lady of-the Camellias," and those who have already seen the initial screenings have been greatly impressed by the charm of the feature, the continuous power of the tragic romance, and the fine interpretation of the principal character by Norma Talmadge. There are. .60 many .phases—touches of comedy, tragedy; - romance, . little human flashes—that the picture • does not at any time become wearisome dfespite its great length. . Vivacious, , whimsical,, and alluring to the conr'tier3 of 'France; Norma Talmadge gives the abandon :necessary to the part, but shoiva to the full her dramatic power when she .meets, her true lover, Armarid Duval, and strengthens her power for dramatic acting When Duval renounces her. The supporting, programme is well chosen, •and a fine entertainment is provided.
