NORTH BEACH BURGESSES.

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the North Beactf and Waimairi Burgesses' Association was held in the Memorial Hall, North Beach, when Mr. E. A. M. Leaver presided over a good attendance. Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., wrote stating that he was hopeful of being ultimately successful in his effort to secure a permanent resident police constable for North Beach. The Town Clerk wrote stating that the Council had agreed to the placing of an additional light in Rookwood avenue, and also to the formation from Jubilee avenue to the reserve towards Berry street, of a roadway. The Council of the United Burgesses Association wrote concerning the alleged overcharging by contractors for connecting /up houses with sewers, and asking for particulars of costs of any such work done in the district. The Council also asked for payment of a levy etruck by the Association towards the costs of sending a representative to Wellington over matters connected with the Drainage Bill. It waß decided that the matter of sewer drainage did not affect the Association, and nothing could be done in tlio matter until a report was received from the Association s the motion of Mr R. I. Lamb, it Was decided to call the attention of the Borough Council to the danger fom sand drift of the grass plot adjoining the surf pavilion, and to request that some protection be provided. Mr F. J. L. Scott drew the attention of the meeting to the inconvenience caused to casual tram passengers who wished to take a No 10 tram from Cathedral square to Ascot or Park road. At present thera was no way of telling whether a tram connected with a bus at Burwood or not, and cases were known where womenfolk had been left at Burwood to wait for half an hour or more for & bus. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Scott, to write to the Tramway Board pointing out this difficuitv, and suggesting that a definite sign be placed on the No. 10 cars which connected with buses for Park road junction, similar to the signs displayed on t'na No. 5 cars which went to Park road.
