TRAINED MASSEURS.
VISIT TO HOSPITAL. The New Zealand Trained Masseurs' Association conference was concluded on Saturday, when a large number of delegates visited the Public Hospital and were shown over the various • departments. At the X-ray Department; Dr. Neil Guthrie conducted. the delegates, Dr. P. Clennell Fenwick welcoming them at the Radium Department, and explaining the nature of the work. Infantile Paralysis. Dr. Will, of. the Massage Department, gave an address on infantile paralysis. He mentioned the significance of the periodical appearances made by epidemics of infantile.paralysis, and said that the first epidemic in New Zealand was in 1912, the next in, 1916, the third in 1921, and the most recent in 1925,- all having. <fome at intervals of four to five.years. "The disease was believed, ' in America,- to Jbe carried "by the' air from one person to another' from nasal secretions. The most efficient control in . combating the spread of the disease was in the immediate isolation of patients when the disease manifested itself, and in the prevention of all gatherings of children.
