CRICKET.
MERIVALE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Merivale Cricket Club was held on -Monday night, Mr W. B. Fuller presiding over a good attendance of members. : The balance-sheet showed a cash balance of £3 17s 7d, while the assets were £26 15s Id. The club, for its first year in district competitions, did remarkably well, the junior team running very close to winning the I Junior A competition. The Third Grade team was successful in winning their grade I trophy, being unbeaten. A bat given by Mr J. R. Franks was won by 0. R. Dickie for the highest batting average in tho junior team. The followins officers were elected: Patron, Mr F, T. Evans; president, Mr W. B. Fuller; vice-presidents, Messrs J. R. Franks, J. Goulding, A. McDuff, R. O. Nuttall, and S. Brosnan; committee, Messrs R. M. Blazey, F. Dickie, J. Jennings, C. Dickie, T. Syme, F. Taylor, and G. Suckling; hon. auditor, Mr R. M. Blazey; hon. secretary, Mr F. A. Price. ELLESMERE SUB-ASSOCIATION. The annual shield competition of the Elleßmere Cricket Sub-Association is to commence on Saturday, September 24th. Springston, at Southbridge; Weedons v. Irwell, at Weedons. IRWELL CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Irwell Cricket Club, Mr L. B. Coe was in the chair, and there was a fair attendance. The annual report stated that the club had had a successful season last year, finishing third in the competition. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit of £2 lie, and, with the report, was adopted. Officers were elected as follows Patron, the Hon; Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, M.L.0.; president, Mr John Heslip, son.: vice-presi-dents, Messrs R. T. McMillan. H. Gardiner, T. A. Stephens, D. McGregor, and a. k. Winter; captain, Mr A. P. Chamberlain; vicecaptain, Mr W. Doak; secretary and treasurer Mr J Ooe; selection committee, the captain, vioe-captain, and Mr L. B. Uoe; delegation to Sub-Association, Messrs u. u. °°The D bat presented by Mr L. B. Ooe f« r Jho hlehest batting average last season was won by W. Doak, who headed the club 8 averages in both batting and bowling. Mr Coe offered another bat for this season s av<3ra o es, and his offer was accepted with thanks.
