In a match with Thornton's XL, at Lord's, the Marylebone team for South Africa, in their first innings, made 205. Tate took six for 43. Thornton's XI., in their first innings, made 364 for nine wickets and declared (Jupp 83, Tate 65, Sandham 61).' Wyatt took five for <JO. The match was drawn.
