QUEENSLAND RAILWAYS.
SERVICES RESUMED. FILLIP TO MOTOR TRANSPORT. (BI CABLE—FRES3 ASSOCIATION -COFTBIGHT). (AU3TKAIUK AND N.Z. CAB LB ABSOdATIOir.) (Received September 12th, 7.30 p.m.) BRISBANE, September 12. Trains have recommenced running. There was a full attendance of strikers ail day on Sunday at the Commissioner's offices to sign the declaration to abide by the Commissioner's orders. Although the railway strike has ended, the men at South Johnstone express themselves indignant at the railwaymen's return to work. They say the South Johnstone strike is no nearer settlement than weeks ago, and they will explore other avenues for support. A meeting of the Trades and Labour Council decided to take steps to form an Industrial Labour Party and a congress of all unions is being convened for this object. As a result of the strike many businesses which have been only just able to keep going have dismissed numbers of employees, and it is stated that these will not be reemployed. The effect of the strike on the railways is also disastrous, as people havo discovered that motor transport in many instances is better and cheaper than rail, and they will not return to the railways.
