"YACHTING."

TO THE EDITOR OT THI PEISS. Sir, —I notice that in this morning's Press an accident to a sailing boat appears under the heading "Yacht Capsized." . Similar headings are frequent in your own and other newspapers, and we read a great deal about •'yachting" during the races held in Lytteltoii for the Sanders Cup. The boats competing were not yachts, but clever little half-decked sailing boats. The accepted definition of a yacht is "A decked sea-going craft used solely for pleasure." All yachts are practically uncapsizable, the great majority absolutely so. Open and half-decked boat sailing is an admirable and exhilarating sport, especially for the younger members of the community, but it is hardly fair to saddle one of the safest of sports, "yachting," with tho many accidents to which tho former is, especially in the hands of novices, liable. —Yours, etc., ROBT. J. SCOTT. Sept: 12th. 1027.
