"A distinguished trio of artists consisting of Madame Gower-Burns (soprano), a celebrated visiting violinist, and Mr Ernest Empson (solo pianist and accompanist) w»" be associated in a matinee to take place in the Caledonian Hall on Tuesday, August 2nd, at 8.30 p.m. Much thought has been expended on the compilation of the programme, which is comprehensive in character, embracing vocal and instrumental works of classical and modem masters -of German, ench ' Russian, Scandinavian, Bohemian, and British schools. Each work has been chosen as a masterpiece in its particular genre, and with a view to its rarity in public presentation. It is hoped that the efforts put forth should prove both pleasure-giving and highly instructive from an educational point of view, alike to connoisseurs and serious students of the art.
