AN UNOCCUPIED BUILDING.

A fire occurred last night at the rear of the premises previously occupied by the Union Cafe in Victoria street, the brigade being called out at half-past nine.

The building has been unocupied for some months and th© cause of the outbreak is not known. A small room an the rear of the premises was damaged, but the brigade prevented the fire spreading to the upper storey. The building is the property of an absentee landlord and insurances are not available, Hillary and Baxter being the agents. An outbreak of fire occurred in the oame building about a mouth ago.
