The Sydney "Daily Telegraph," commenting on South Australia's refusal to send a cricket team to New Zealand, says: "These tours from one State should be barred, as it is unquestionably a matter for the Board of Control to arrange. The sooner something concrete is done regarding. the interchange of visits with the Dominion the better for the game in both places, for if Australia can build up cricket in New Zealand it will be repaid a hundredfold within the next ten years." Wright .took five for 80. In their second ltimngs they were 333 for seven, declared (. Ducat 56, Barling 123. Fender 80). Kent, in their first innings, made 258 (Legge 70). Fender took five for 64._ In their second innings they made 259 (Ashdown 80, Chapman 86). Peach took five for 62. Surrey won by 114 runs. Against Middlesex, Hampshire, ui their first innings, made 237 (Mead, not cut, 95), and m their second innings 251 (Tennyson 102). Middlesex, in their first innings, made 285 (Lee 100, Mann 74), and in their second innings were 59 for 0 wickets. Middlesex won on the first innings. _ Notts, in their first innings against Yorkshire, made 298 (Carr 52, Whysail 163). Rhodes took 4 for 40. In their second innings they were 224 ior 6, declared (Whysall 74, LiHey 60.) Yorkshire in their first innings made 177 (Oldroyd, not out, 76), and in their second innings they were 72 for 0 wickets (Leyland, not out, 50). Notts won on tne first innings. Against Sussex, Somerset, in their first innings, _ made 142, and in their second innings were 299 for 9 wickets, declared (Case, not out, 107, Cresswell 54). Sussex in their first innings made 85. _ White took 5 for 18. In their second innings they were 214 for 9 (Bowleg 61). Somerset won on the first innings. For Worcester against Lancashire, Root took 8 for 25. For Lancashire McDonald took 5 for 23. Lancashire won. For Leicester against Essex. Armstrong took 4 for 21, and A§till 6 for 46. Leicester won. For Gloucester , against Glamorgan, Mills took 5 for 74 and Parker 5 for 66. Gloucester won. For Derby against Northants, Lee took 5 for 41, and Townsend 5 for 42. Derby won.
