HOSPITAL STAFF.
TWO APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE. The sub-committee bf the North Canterbury Hospital Board . set _ up to go into the matter of the appointment of an Assistant Medical Superintendent with Dr. Fox, has gi.ven full consideration to the matter, and the Board decided at yesterday's meeting to invite applications-for two different positions, namely:—An assistant medical superintendent and surgical registrar at a salary of £3OO per annum with board and lodgings, with annual increments of £SO rising to £4OO per annum; and a medical registrar and assistant to the aural department at a salary of £250 per annum, with board and lodgings, with annual increments of £SO rising to £350 per annum.. Expressing the opinion that both the superintendent and lady superintendent were overworked, . Mrs E. McCombs said'that there was a feeling among the public that patients _ were rushed out of the Hospital too quickly. Cases had been reported to her, she said, of patients leaving tli©_ institution too soon, and certain medical men had commented on it also.
"If we make it plain to the public that an alteration is to be made, then the public confidence will be increased," said Mrs McCombs.
