MALVERN POWER BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. Tho monthly meeting of.the Malvern Electric Power Board was held in Darfield on Monday, members present being: Messrs G. p. Judd (chairman), John Deans, G. Hall, H. A. Millar, and H. Oliver. An application was received from _ the Malvern County Council for five street lights in Kirwee township, and two for Greendaletownship. . On the motion_ of Mr Deans the applications -were granted. The Chief Electric Engineer of the Public Works Department wrote informing the Board that all existing stocks of solid coppar wire must be exhausted before tho end of next December, otherwise the use of such stocks would be considered to be a breach of the Department's regulations. The chairman stated thait this regulation had been the basis of a remit put by the Board before the Electric Power Board and Supply Authorities' Conference in Wellington last week, protesting against the prohibition of No. 10 and No. 8 gauge copper wire in high tension supply lines. Although the remit was carried by the various delegates present, it. had not received the favourable consideration of the Chief Electrical Engineer who had decided to adhere to the regulations as they were now gazetted. This wouild mean a considerable increase in line construction' costs, and it behoved all intending consumers to hustle along the canvassings in their districts if they were to avail themselves of the supply of solid.copper wire which the Board had at present in stock. Loan accounts amounting to £1634 7s 9d, together with- power fund accounts for £670 6s lOd were passed for payment.
