WAIPUKURAU, July 27. Further details of: yesterday's crossing accident ; show-'Ahat Power was thrown dear, but Walsh was found under the .train with his head smashed to pulp, death: being instantaneous. The body was conveyed to the morgue. .Power was admitted to the Waipukurau hospital suffering from shock and' broken ribs. Walsh was a married man without _ a family. He farmed a soldier'B section at Marakeke. The crossing is a very bad one, and repeated efforts have been made to get the Department to take steps to eliminate the danger, without avail. An inquest was opened this morning for identification purposes, and was adjourned till August 3rd. [A level crossing accident occurred on Tuesday, when a motor-car* containing Frank Walsh and Thomas Power collided with the Napier-bound express at the Ruataniwha Crossing on the Wellington , side of Waipukurau. Walsh was killed outright and the car was badly smashed.]
