NEW BRIGHTON BRIDGE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sir—l would like to voice my pro-test-against the decision of the Court of Appeal, which virtually legalises the closing of the River Avon to all but the smaller craft for all time. Following with close interest the successful demand for the dredging of the Avon arid pleased beyond measure with the magnificent results achieved, is it not amazing that we have men amongst us who cannot see the great wrong they are doing the people of Greater Christchurch by persisting with their scheme of throttling the Avon by the erection of a low bridge that can never be raised? What sense is there in such a ridiculous proposal —there's neither common sense nor horse sense. Such a proposal is the height of folly, and as a ratepayer I object to any of my money toeing spent to help the New Brighton Council block the river.—Yours, etc., JUSTICE.
