H.M.S. DIOMEDE.
A NEW CAPTAIN
[THE PRESS Special Service.]
WELLINGTON, June 14. In October next, the. term, of appointment of Captain J. S. M. Ritchie, R,N.,as Commander of JI.M.S. Diomede, expires, and, according to advice received bv the Minister for Defence (Mr Rolleston). the Admiralty has selected Captain L. V. Wells, D.SX)., R.N., as successor to Captain Ritchie; the appointment is to date from October Ist. Captain Ritchie is in command at present of H.M.S. Dunedin. now en route from England to New Zealand, and he will take his foreign service leave out in the Dominion before returning to England Captain Wells is at present undergoing the senior officer's war' course at the Royal Naval College. Greenwich, and will' leave Southampton for New Zealand by the Hororata about August 26th,
