I\lr Strona-ch Paterson lias written ; to Sir James Parr resigning his position as Government representative on | the London'agency of the New Zealand I Dairy Control Board. I The letter points out that Mr l'atcrson discussed the matter fully with i Mr Coates last .November and quotes his (Mr Paterson's letter to Mr Coates of November Bth, suggesting that the only course open to the writer was to continue to work, as opportunity offered, for such a modification of the machinery of control as might mitigate the bad results he feared, for breaking down the prevailing hostility to New Zealand dairy produce, and for the reestabiishment of goodwill and co-opera-tion in all branches of the dairy produce trade in this country. . To this, Mf Coates agreed. It also quotes a letter to Mr Coates on December 28th, stating that he would consent to carry on his duties as long he Tiad Mr Coates's cohfidenca, of which Mr Coates assured, him.... Mr Coates also expressed a wish that he should carry on, with the understanding that ho (Mr Paterson) should continue the policy outlined on November Bth, which policy had since been scrupulously followed. In December, Mr Paterson. informed Mr Coates that ifc was impossible to carry on if Mr J. B. Wright were appointed to the London agency, and fully explained his reasons for this attitude. As- Mr Wright has now been appointed from the date of departure of. Messrs lorns and Motion, towards the end of this month, Mr Paterson asks Sir James Parr to convey to the Prime Minister his desire to resign his position forthwith.

MR THACKER'S CANDIDATURE. A meeting of dairy farmers was held yesterday to consider what steps should be taken to support the candidature of Mr J. R. Thacker as a member of the Dairy Board. After hearing Mr Thacker, and a full discussion of the actions of the Board, it was resolved that those present iorin themselves into a committee to support Mr Thacker. Arrangements were made for another meeting to be held next Wednesday, FREE MARKETING CANDIDATE. (PRESS ASSOCUTIOir..TK,IGSAU.} NEW PLYMOUTH, April 6. At a meeting of anti-Control dairy producers this afternoon it was de-. cided; to nominate Mr > James. Hine, of Tikbrangi, as : a candidate, for .No. 4 ward for the Control Board election., The meeting, was convened by .the Free Marketing League.
