SOME "FAVOURITES" AT COMPETITIONS. INDEX EXPURGATORILS. [SHE PESBB Special Service.] WELLINGTON, April 5. At the £nnual meeting of the "Wellington Competitions isociety, several teachers spoke of the desirability of debarring certain pieces in the "own selection" classes. The matter was considered at the last meeting of the executive council, when it was decided that, owing to frequent repetition at various competitions, the iolluwing elocutionary and vocal items will not lie accepted in any own selection classes at the 1927 festival of ihe VV ellington Society: Elocution—"Green Eye of the Yellow God," "Devil May Care," "The Sibters," "Doom of Stephanus," '-The Pudding," "He Tried to Teli His Wife," "He Fell Among Thieves," '"Aspiring Dishwasher," "Entertaining Sister's Beau," "Prince Arthur," "Joe, the Crossing-sweeper," "Peach Pie " "The Telegram," "Trip to Blackpool,'" "Jimmy Tended the Baby," -'The Crooked Mouthed Family," '"The Bootblack," "Juliet Taking the Opiate," "Killed at the Ford," "Nancy," "Fagan's Last Night Alive," "Bride's First Visit to the Butcher," and "Lorraine Loree." Vocal —"0, Divine Redeemer," ''Prologue" (from "Pagliacci"), "Star of Eve," "One Fine Day," "Softly Awakes My Heart," "He Was Despised/' "Voi Che Sapete," "Flower Song" ("Faust"), "Why Am I Always the Bridesmaid?"
