WATERFRONT DISPUTE.
STEAMER HELD UP. After a spell of some months from any form of dispute on the waterfront, trouble arose yesterday ovsr the mn~mn S of the Canterbury gfeamshjp Co.*§ steamer Storm. ( The men contended that si.x should constitute a gang," be, C x u ??r * h - at wwrober, they state, is used at Wellington. The company refused to increase the gangs, with the result that the ship ia now held up for want of labour. She should have exiled yesterday afternoon, but will not get away until to-day. It is thought that the men may accept on the old conditions this morning. One hold of the steamer Tremcadow which commenced discharging on Wednesday afternoon, is not being worked owing to a similar dispute, the men demanding that six men be employed.
