LIBERAL PARTY.
PLANS FOR REVIVAL. CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTONS [THE PRESS Special Senric*.] WELLINGTON, March 10. Enquiries were further pursued today in regard to the proposals which have been under discussion in the past few days among those interested in plans for the resuscitation of . the old Liberal Party. It is ascertained that a conference took placo in Wellington this week, but it is understood that the main difficulty which has presented itself is tliei selection of a leader. At present there are in Parliament two ex-leaders of tho old Party—Sir Joseph Ward, who is the only member .who retains the name of Liberal, and Mr T. M. Wilford, formcrlv leader of the Opposition as chiof of the Liberal Party following Sir Joseph's defeat in 1919, and now ft member of the National Party, the new title assumed by Mr Wilford and his followers a couple of years ago. Tho new leader of the renamed Party is Mr George Forbes. It is understood that developments are being watched with interest by all three of these gentlemen, as well as by their followers, but at present there is extreme reticence as to the result of the recent confer* ence discussions.
