MUSICAL COMEDY.
HUMPHREY BISHOP SEASON. Clever comedy, exquisite dances, brilliant music, and glorious flitigiag are the outstanding features of the current programme at llie Thflatre iioyai, where this clever kuglish Company are holding etvay, and the large audietico which attended ast night bore ample testimony to the excellence of the production. "Scratcher" Ross continuee to be a great favourite, his every appearance being gieetcd with roard of hearty laughter, nnd at the conclusion of each of hid items the Were loth of let bim eave tho stage; ifc is a long time since Chriatchurch has teen a more capable comedian. Walter luJigsley again had to respond to a double encore for his fine rendition of "Cottage Small" and "Tho Stoker/' while Charles Albert again scbred heavily in his Dame impersonation. Dorothy .Ryder and Fred Webber were again well received for their bright singing, dancing, and musical duo. " helrna Trott s fina soprano voice was heard to advantage in a pleasing duet, "A Night of Love/ 1 with Walter Kingsley, and again with Fred Webber in the "Miserere" scene from "II Trovatoro"; while Mark Leslie and Elaine Mayo were in association in a clever terpsichorean speciality. The Ragtime quintet, as usual, was one of the big hits of the evening, as was the dancing quartet. The present programme will be continued till Monday evening, and there will be a complete change on Tuesday. If the weather is unfavourable to outdoor amussment on Saturday, a special half-price matinee will be given. Plans are at The Bristol.
