POLO.

TOURNAMENT CONTINUED. AMURI B WIN JUNIOR CUP. The polo tournament for the Junior Cup and the Bhodes Cup was continued at Haglcy Park yesterday. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, but the ground was a trifle sticky owing to the recent rains. As on the first day, there was a good attendance of spectators and there is no doubt that the game is growing in popularity in Christchurch. On the whole the general standard of play showed an improvement, and some fine play should be witnessed to-day and to-morrow when the final rounds of the Bhodes Cup competition will be played. -Amuri B gave a much improved exhibition to-day and scored a popular victory in the Junior Cup final. Banks Peninsula were lacking in combination, and lacked the necessary finish to their movements, while there was much bad hitting and poor shooting. The game was full of interest and incident, and some exciting rallies resulted. Eoger Gould, for Amuri, and H. Menzies, for Banks Peninsula, the respective backs j for their teams, were the outstanding players, and both gave firßt-class exhibitions throughout. Christchurch A were right off form against Pareora, who scored a comfortable win by a margin of eight goals, one over their handicap. D. Gould played a sound game at back, his powerful hitting being an asset to his side. G. Grigg was consistent all through, and he showed up in several fine movements. Tahu Ehodes was off form, and although he played headily, his display was disappointing. E. M. Johnson was very patchy, the only time he was prominent for good play being when he was scoring his six goals. All the Pareora team played a great game, H. Elworthy giving the best exhibition of the meeting. Amuri A were at their best against Christchurch B, whose efforts were spasmodic. Each team scored the same number of goals, Amuri winning by their handicap of five. For Christchurch Major Hutton was very steady, and his generalship was responsible for most of the team's movements. Livingstone has the makings of a really fine player. Macdonald was out of practice, but played well, as did E. Johnson, who, however, was very erratic. C. MaefaYlane was the best of the Amuri team.

The following are the results: — Amuri B (R. Gould, C. Deans, A. Robinson, and G. Reid) 7 goals, defeated Banks Peninsula (H.'Menzies, lan Menzies, B. Stewart, and A.
