OBITUARY.
MR ALBERT BRUCE. (I-KESS ASSOCIATION TILEGHAH.) THAMES, March 4. The death has occurred of Mr Albert Bruce, one-time town clerk and treasurer at Thames. He was born in Sydney in 1848 and came to Thamea in 18(3". He was manager of Woiotahi Gold Company and acted as secretary of the Thames-Corotuandel Hospital Board, Thames Harbour Board, and School of Mines Council. He took an active part in the formation of the South Auckland Racing Club, and the Thames Jockey Club. For the past three years ho had been in failing health, and last year he resigned from business.

The death is announced of Michel Petrovitch Artsibashcv, the Russian novelist. [Artsibashcv, who was born in 1878, wrote various books, among which were "Talcs of the Revolution,'' "Breaking Point," "War," and "Sanine."]
