BODY FOUND.
IN WAIMAKARIRI RIVER. The body of a man, later identified by his brother as that of Percy Timms, aged about 33 years, was found in the Waimakariri river by a fisherman named Cox early yesterday morning. Hie fisherman secured the body to the north bank, at low water, and went to inform the police. The St. Albans and Belfast police were sent out, but it was found to be impossible to get the body from the south side of the river. Accordingly, the Kaiapoi police were info, led, and they immediately set out for the spot where the body had been secured. ' About three thirty yesterday afternoon it was reported to the Christchurch station that, despite an unremitting search, the police were unable to find the body, which had evidently been carried away by the rising tide. The New Brighton police wore informed, and a search was commenced from that part of the beach. The body was found again about 5 o'clock vesterrtav afternoon near Brooklands bv the Kaiapoi police. On Friday afternoon, Timms cycled to Kaiopoi, and there left his bicycle, and his waistcoat and a letter were found on the river-bank later. The body was removed to the Christchurch morgue, and an inquest will be held.
