TWO NARROW ESCAPES.

BATHING MISHAPS AT DUNEDIN. (faiSS ASSOCIATION HUCWAK.) DUNEDIN, February 14. There weTe two narrow escapes from drowning at St. Clair beach yesterday. A life-saving team was having a practice run when the "patient" took cramp, and drifted some distance •to sea. Two reels were quickly brought into play, and after a hard struggle he was brought ashore, where he recovered immediately. The alarm was again raised, and it soon became evident that this case was an urgent one, as the drowning person was drifting rapidly out with the tide. McLean, a High Bchool boy and a junior member of the life-saving team, quickly went to his assistance. He reached the man, keeping him afloat nntil the senior life-saving team had manned the reel. By this time the man was nearly unconscious. After a quick pull in resuscitation was resorted to, and with medical assistance the rescued man was restored to consciousness.
