POLO.
COMING CONTESTS. On Friday at 3.30 p.m. the first match for Mrs George Gould's Cup will bo played on the Polo Ground between tho Christcharch Polo Club's A and B teams. This Cup, which has just been presented to the club, will, in future seasons, bo played for on handicap once a month between the A and B teams, the winners of the most matches during the season to hold the Cup for the ensuing year. It )b hoped that these matches will add to the Keenness of the Saturday afternoon games and generally stimulate more enthusiasm amongst players. The G. G. Stead, Rhodes, and Junior Cups will bo played for on tho Christchurch ground on March 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. In all probability seven teams will be competing, which is more than have played in a tournament in Christchurch since tho North Island teams were down in 1021. Ten days after this tournament the Christchurch A team and probably n combined team from Amuri and Pareora will lenvc- for Feilding to compete for the Savile Cup. There appears to be more interest in polo being taken by the public, and at Friday's match seating accommodation will be provided, as will be the case at all tho big tournaments.
