GRAND THEATRE.
There lias, not bocn a picture prcsonlcd in Christcliurch for a very long time more colourful, more delightful in its conception, or more original in its presentation than •The Black Pirate," which is running at tho Grand Theatro this week on an extended season. It is a very clever pictureo delightfully played, and beautifully presented. The s"ory is ono which will, delight the mo, fastidioui picture fan, for.it is indeed very cldom that a feature Paring the .magfc>.t o« of our youth with such realistic vmdness is .how?. The picture takes us back to those days when tho dreaded pirate was tho terror of every captain who put his ship to eca. Although tho picture is crammed full of adventuro and action, there hae been woven into tbc story the most jwcumting of romances, and Bilbe Dove plays tho feminine lead.with exquisite gr"• »"f """• plicitr. and is tie one bright figure in the essentially masculine surrounding*.
